The Peacocks maintained fifth spot in the BetVictor Southern League table with a no frills 3-0 victory over basement side Beaconsfield Town at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this afternoon (7th December).
After an uninspiring first quarter of the game with neither side able to create a single chance, Town broke the deadlock after 26 minutes when skipper Matt Wright hit a cracking half volley past Myles Bowman from the edge of the box.
Two quickfire goals from Andrew Neal then settled the outcome in the early stages of the second half. Zac Smith’s forward lob found Neal who beat Bowman to the ball but saw his header hit the post, however the Peacocks striker was on hand to lash home the rebound on 52 minutes and then four minutes later a third was added when Dan Sullivan’s clearance was missed by the defender, allowing Neal to advance and neatly lob Bowman. Owen Windsor, making his home debut, was unlucky to see his shot hit one post, roll along the line and hit the other before being cleared while Beaconsfield rarely troubled Town keeper Lloyd Irish as his side eased to another three points.
