The Peacocks jumped up to fifth spot in the BetVictor Southern League table following a 2-0 victory over Truro City at a rain soaked Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (23rd October).
The win ended Truro’s eight game unbeaten run and was fully deserved for Town who took the lead after 14 minutes when Dan Sullivan took possession after a corner was cleared and his shot took a deflection off Harrison Davis to beat James Hamon in the City goal. The Peacocks doubled their advantage after 63 minutes through Nick Grimes who powered home a header from Ryan Brett’s corner. Town never looked in danger of letting Truro back into the contest as they closed the gap on the leaders to four points.
Reaction – Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” A memorable night against a team second in the league. Our levels were superb against a very good Truro side and it was great to finish on the right side of the result. With that in mind though it is important we replicate these levels in the FA Trophy at a difficult place to go on Saturday.”
