The Peacocks resume their BetVictor Southern League campaign tomorrow (28th September) when they travel to Metropolitan Police, kick-off 3.00pm.
After last Saturday’s disappointment at exiting the Emirates FA Cup, Town will be doubly determined to get some momentum building in the League, having drawn their last three fixtures against Harrow Borough, Swindon Supermarine and Dorchester Town. Despite that they still sit handily placed in 9th spot so will be looking to make that extra push in Surrey tomorrow and gain a victory to push themselves further up the table.
The Police reached the Southern League Super Play-Off Final last term but were denied a place in National League South by Tonbridge Angels. However they have experienced a real chalk and cheese start to 2019-20. They lie only two points and three places below the Peacocks in 12th but have yet to pick up a point at home, having scored only one goal in four matches in suffering defeats to Truro City, Hartley Wintney, Merthyr and in their most recent outing a 3-0 setback against Walton Casuals. Away from home though they remain unbeaten with three wins and a draw including a notable 3-1 success at Salisbury. Despite losing many of last season’s squad, the Blues have retained dangerman Jack Mazzone so Town will need to tread carefully with the Police desperate to end their poor record at Imber Court. Furthermore, the Peacocks will need no reminding of their first ever visit there last season which ended in a 4-1 defeat.
Shane White begins a three game suspension following his sending-off at Dorchester but Ed Palmer returns after missing the Cup tie at Havant and Waterlooville. Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” Another trip on the road which after Tuesday’s forthcoming game at Bideford will be our 6th away game in the last eight. The Police are always a tough proposition away from home so we will need to be at our best again. If we replicate last week’s performance though we won’t be far away”.

Most recent meetings: The Blues were the only team to do the double over Town last season, the first occasion that the sides had met. In April, Rocky Neal’s goal proved a consolation as the Surrey club won 3-1 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium thanks to two from Jack Mazzone and another from Ethan Chislett. Earlier in the campaign in late September the Peacocks had seen Ben Adelsbury equalise after Chislett had put the home side ahead but Town fell away to lose 4-1 as the hosts scored further goals through Max Blackmore, Mazzone and Chislett.
