As announced on our media channels earlier in the week, the club are delighted to finally now confirm the signing of defender Nick Grimes from Tiverton Town. The 21 year old joined the Devon side over the summer from Truro City, having begun his career at Exeter City. A former scholar of Hartpury College, he then went on to play for Slimbridge before signing for Cinderford Town in 2017, winning the Player of the Year award in his first season, and then moving on to Truro in October 2018. Grimes goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Harrow Borough.

Speaking about his move to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, Nick remarked:” Obviously I worked with Meaks last season at Truro and stayed in contact with him throughout the summer so then when I saw that he had gone back to Taunton and they were interested, along with all the good things I had seen and heard about Rob, the staff and how things are run at the club, it definitely seemed like the right move to make for me to progress.”

Head of Football Rob Dray added:” Nick is without doubt one of the best young centre backs in the south west and it’s a coup to get him. After we had talks in the summer and couldn’t get him over the line, Meaks’ connection from Truro worked well and we are pleased to sign someone that will boost the squad and allow one or two others to play in different positions.”

Welcome to the club Nick!
