The Peacocks play their penultimate Evo-Stik League home fixture of the season when they entertain Kings Langley at the Viridor Stadium tomorrow afternoon (13th April), kick-off 3.00pm.
The game marks the beginning of the final fortnight of the campaign for Town who will be seeking to harvest maximum points from their four remaining matches in order to finish as high as possible in the table to secure home advantage in the Play-Offs. Last Saturday’s defeat to Metropolitan Police proved a double disappointment for Town who saw the Police climb above them into second spot whilst Weymouth were opening up an eight point advantage over them at the top with victory over Staines. Although the chances of winning automatic promotion now appear unlikely, the Peacocks will want to ensure they maintain the pressure on the top two who both face tricky away games tomorrow.
It will be Kings Langley’s first ever visit to the Viridor Stadium and they also have a major incentive to achieve a result as they lie in 5th place, needing ten more points from their final four games to guarantee a place in the Play-Offs. Their most recent outing saw them lose to Swindon Supermarine, ending a run of three successive wins. Goals from Ben Adelsbury and Ryan Brett steered Town to a 2-1 win in Hertfordshire in August and no doubt the Peacocks would settle for a similar outcome second time round against a side which has drawn at Weymouth and won at Salisbury earlier in the season.
Keith Emmerson returns to the squad which is missing Lucas Tomlinson who has been recalled to his parent club Bristol Rovers and Shane Krac who is playing for Plymouth Parkway. Head of Football Rob Dray commented: ”So we start an exciting month of games against a team who have plenty to play for. It’s fantastic to be at this end of the division in our first season at this level. We realise last week wasn’t good enough all round so against another potential play-off side we need to do the basics well and the things that cost no talent.”
A late winner by Ryan Brett earnt the Peacocks victory last time the sides met.
