The Peacocks maintained their 7 point lead at the top of the table over Weymouth as the two sides fought out a 3-3 draw at the Viridor Stadium yesterday afternoon. (29 Dec)
The first four goals of the match came within the first 20 minutes as Andrew Neal opened the scoring for Town on 3 minutes. The Terras drew level through Yemi Odubade for his first goal of the afternoon 9 minutes later. The visitors then took the lead on 18 minutes through Ben Thomson and just a minute later Matt Buse popped up for his 8th goal of the season to make it 2-2.
After the break Rob Dray’s side retook the lead as Neal grabbed his second of the match with a flick at the far post in the 51st minute. The final goal of this six-goal thriller came 8 minutes later as Yemi Odubade cooley converted from the penalty spot following a foul on Ben Thomson by Shane White.
Commenting on the result Rob Dray said, “I was pleased with that performance after a tough Boxing Day game and a great game for the neutral which had a bit of everything. Weymouth are an excellent side and for us to be where we are shows how far we have come in a short space of time, but this means nothing if we don’t follow up against Merthyr.”
