The Peacocks fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Hartley Wintney yesterday afternoon.
Both sides had to battle with the weather conditions throughout the afternoon and led to an uneventful opening 45 minutes and the score line goalless.
The deadlock was broken on 58 minutes as Jack French capitalised on a mistake by Josh Nelmes and slotted past Lloyd Irish. Town were level within 5 minutes as Ryan Brett fouled everyone from the corner spot and saw his effort nestle into the back of the net.
It only took The Row 4 minutes to recapture the lead as Mickel Platt converted a header at the far post and then in injury time Josh Webb jinx his way into the box and found the bottom corner to seal the victory for the hosts.
Commenting after the defeat Rob Dray said, “To a degree it was a lottery in those conditions and it was all about not making personal errors and taking your chances when you get them. We didn’t do either and were punished. Although our run comes to an end the lads have been a credit to themselves and the club. This defeat reaffirms you can’t take anything for granted in this division and now we must dry off and get back to our best at Staines next week.”
