Town hit four goals for the second Evo-Stik League home game in succession when they beat Walton Casuals 4-0 yesterday evening (14th November).
An entertaining game saw the Peacocks grab the lead after 11 minutes when Matt Wright ran in to head home Ryan Brett’s corner. Wright was denied a second by Denzel Gerrar before Jack Battie hit the crossbar for the visitors. Pierce Mitchell cut in from the right to pick out the bottom corner of the net to hand Town a 2-0 lead on 29 minutes and the contest was effectively settled after 47 minutes when Wright nodded down Brett’s corner for Craig Veal to net from inside the six yard box. Sullivan then headed in number four on 60 minutes after capitalising on Joe Hicks’ back header. Town had further chances in the final half hour with Gerrar making several decent stops. Victory lifts Town up to second spot and puts them in good spirits ahead of Saturday’s trip to Gosport.
Reaction | Head of Football Rob Dray said: “It’s great to get back to back wins with four different scorers. Again they were a technical side which offered a different challenge but yet again we found a way to win and did what we do best. Onto Saturday and hopefully we can follow things up at Gosport to conclude a good week.”
