Taunton begin life after the Leigh Robinson era with an Evo-Stik Southern League Cup tie at home to Street tomorrow evening (4th September), kick-off 7.45pm.
Coach Rob Dray along with Matt Villis will take charge of the Town side following the departure of manager Robinson and assistant manager Michael Meaker to Truro City earlier today, with the Peacocks’ side being very much a development one which was always going to be the case. Only three players who featured in Saturday’s draw with Basingstoke will be involved tomorrow evening, namely Shane White, Andrew Neal and keeper Lloyd Irish, with the rest of the squad being made up predominantly of promising players from our Education partners Bridgwater and Taunton College.
Opponents Street are newcomers to the Southern League this term, having waltzed to the Western League title by a 15 point margin last season. They have made a decent start to life at the higher level, currently sitting in sixth spot after winning their opening two league fixtures and then drawing with Paulton before suffering their first defeat on Saturday at AFC Totton. Admission prices have been reduced for tomorrow’s game as follows:
