With promotion already in the bag, the Peacocks have their sights set on securing the Evo-Stik League South, West Division championship which they will hope to do over the next five days with two home matches starting with the visit of Evesham United to the Viridor Stadium tomorrow afternoon (7th April), kick-off 3.00pm.
Town require just five more points to be mathematically certain of winning their first ever Southern League title and could even guarantee the top prize tomorrow if they beat Evesham, and Salisbury, the only side who can potentially catch them, fail to beat Cinderford. Town will be looking for more of the same from the previous meeting between the sides this season in November when they returned from Worcestershire with a fine 3-0 victory thanks to a brace from Dan Sullivan and a Pierce Mitchell strike. However the Robins are likely to prove a hard nut to crack, successive wins over Winchester and Bideford lifting them into sixth spot, and with a batch of play-off hopefuls only separated by a few points they will be intent on maintaining their challenge with a positive result at the Viridor.
The Peacocks welcome back Craig Veal into the squad for tomorrow after he missed the Bideford game while there will be a fitness check on Matt Buse who injured his knee in last weekend’s promotion-clinching match with Kidlington. Loanee Joel Randall meanwhile is playing an Academy game for his parent club Exeter City.
Manager Leigh Robinson remarked: “After Monday at Bideford the picture is very clear for us now in terms of wins required. Tomorrow will be a tough game as Evesham will also be desperate for the points in their play-off push and have the experience and ability to cause us problems. Hopefully the fans will turn up in their numbers though and help us get a step closer to the title.”
