Taunton Town Football Club is proud to announce the formation of a brand new Disability Team, marking a major milestone in the club’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, community, and the power of football to change lives.
The new team will offer players with disabilities the opportunity to train, compete, and become part of the wider Peacocks family. This further strengthens the club’s player pathway and expands access to the game for individuals of all abilities.
Club CEO Karl Lindsay shared his pride in what this launch represents:
“Today marks a proud and transformative moment for Taunton Town, as we officially launch our Disability Football Team. This initiative is more than just a new team. It is a commitment to inclusivity, opportunity, and the power of sport to unite and inspire the community.
“Football has the unique ability to break down barriers and bring people together. By creating this team, we are ensuring that players of all abilities have the chance to experience the joy, camaraderie, and confidence that come from being part of something bigger than themselves.
“This team will not only provide a platform for athletic achievement but will also foster a stronger, more inclusive community. It sends a clear message that everyone belongs on the pitch and everyone deserves the chance to shine.”
Luke O’Hara, Head Coach of the new Disability Team, echoed the excitement and emphasised the warm welcome awaiting both players and volunteers:
“I am incredibly excited to be launching a disability team at a fantastic club like Taunton Town FC. The support from the club has been outstanding and it is clear they share our passion for inclusion.
“Alongside our brilliant coaches and dedicated volunteers, we cannot wait to get started in creating more opportunities for our local community to enjoy football in a fun, welcoming environment.”
The first open training session will take place on Sunday 20 July from 2pm to 4pm at Galmington Playing Field, and all players with access needs — whether visual, auditory, mobility-related or otherwise — are warmly encouraged to come along and get involved. The team is also keen to hear from anyone interested in coaching, volunteering or supporting the initiative in any way.
