The Peacocks progressed to the final qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Amersham Town 2-1 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this afternoon. However it was hard work at times against a side making their first ever appearance at this stage of the competition.

The visitors broke away on the quarter hour to open the scoring through Jake Tabor who fired an effort in off the post from outside the box. Despite dominating possession, the Peacocks remained frustrated in front of goal until the 66th minute when Tom Purrington slotted home from six yards after a series of shots had been blocked. The turnaround was completed three minutes later, Morgan Lewis drilling a low drive into the bottom corner but despite carving out numerous other openings there was no further scoring, with victory extending the Peacocks’ unbeaten run to nine games.
