The club wish to pay tribute to former Director and Vice-Chairman Alan Slade who has stood down from his financial role at the club.

Alan has played an integral part in Taunton Town FC’s progress for more than a decade when the club has enjoyed promotion to the highest level in its history plus two runs to the 1st Round Proper of the FA Cup. He initially became involved with the club alongside sadly missed stalwart Gordon Nelson towards the end of 2010 following the election several months earlier of Chairman Kevin Sturmey. Alan’s financial experience soon proved invaluable as the club had to contend with numerous challenges over the proceeding years, not least the clubhouse fire of 2011. In 2013 he became an Associate Director of the club before becoming Finance Director a year later. He was then appointed as Company Secretary in May 2015, a role which he held until this year, whilst he has also fulfilled the role of Acting Club Secretary during recent years as well as becoming Vice Chairman Finance. Alan stood down as a Director in July 2023 when he was made a Life Vice-President of the club but continued to volunteer as Finance Manager last season into this.

Football Operations Manager Karl Lindsay commented:” Although it’s a great opportunity for Alan to relax, enjoy retirement and spend time with his family and grandchildren, it is an immense loss given his knowledge of football and the club. Alan has been a close ally to myself in understanding how things are done at the club and without his advice and guidance I would have been lost so I wish Alan and his family joy for the future and not to be strangers at the club. On behalf of everyone, thank you for your service at Taunton Town FC.”

We extend our enormous gratitude to Alan for all of his hard work and dedication during his time with the Peacocks and hope to see him attending games at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium whenever possible.
