Havant & Waterlooville 1-0 Taunton Town
Taunton’s second visit to Westleigh Park ended in defeat on Saturday afternoon in The Pitching In Southern League Premier South.
Havant, under new management since our last encounter in The FA Trophy, turned possession into domination in the first half.
Controlling possession playing out from the back, The Hawks took the lead on 23 minutes. With Taunton defence leaving the door open, a through ball into Mitchell Aston who slotted into the bottom corner and beating Lloyd Irish in goal to open the scoring.
It took until a few minutes before the break before Taunton managed to break dangerously into Havant’s box with Moulden firing over the bar.
A change at half time saw Javan Wright come on to replace Billington. And he proved to be a handful on the left and with the introduction of Mendonca on the opposite side, The Peacocks took control of the second half. Only for decisions in the final 3rd letting them down.
Phil Mendonca thought he had grabbed an equaliser for his effort to come off the inside of the far post, as well as Moulden who once again tried to lob the goalkeeper, only for debutant Thomas to deny him by tipping over the bar.
An afternoon where Taunton didn’t create enough and Havant getting the only goal to grab their 3rd win in 15 games.
Taunton now have a week and a half break before travelling to Bath City for a Somerset derby on the 10th November.
