Taunton Town return to league action on Saturday afternoon after a fiery week of back to back clashes with rivals Tiverton Town. The Peacocks came out on top in both, winning 3-0 in the league on Monday before progressing in the FA Cup at Ladysmead. Now, Manager Richard Luffman’s men face a tough test with a trip to West London to take on unbeaten Uxbridge.

Last Saturday summed up everything that makes us follow our teams up and down the country, season after season. For the Peacocks, an enthralling 4-3 victory over Tiverton had it all, from Brodie’s sumptuous volley, to Owen Brain celebrating tackles as if they were goals, and the jubilant scenes with travelling supporters in the wind and rain. With no recognised full backs available, Tom Purrington and Josh Owers deserve special praise for their performances in testing conditions, with Owers netting the decisive fourth goal to seal the win.

Uxbridge, the division’s current draw specialists, will be eager to turn resilience into momentum after collecting four points from their last two outings, including a 2-1 victory over Gosport Borough at Honeycroft. Liam Prior Tack has made a bright start to the campaign with four goals in all competitions, while Nnams Nwachuku has also contributed with two goals from his opening five matches.

Richard Luffman’s Thoughts:

“A return to league action Saturday, against a team who’ve recruited brilliantly to be a really competitive Step 3 team. As of yet, they are unbeaten across five games and taken two points-per-game at home – so a really tough game lies in store.

“We’ve been impressed particularly with how good they are in transitions and we expect them to be a problem with and without the ball. A great game lies in store and I’m buzzing to lead the boys against them Saturday.”
