Nick McCootie

Striker

Competitive Debut: 17/01/2009 v Gosport Borough (H), Southern League

First game for the Peacocks: As above

Nick is a powerful and highly experienced forward who returned to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in the summer of 2022 for his second stint at the club. His early career was with Bristol City and after being released as an 18 year old, he joined Yate Town. He signed for the Peacocks in January 2009 and went on to score 6 goals from 16 full and 6 sub appearances for us until switching to Bridgwater Town in December 2009 where he helped them reach the Southern League South & West Play-Off Final in 2010. Nick then moved to Cinderford Town in the summer of 2010 where he spent two successful years before switching to Paulton Rovers for the 2012-13 season when he helped them reach the Southern League Play-Off Semi-Finals. He went one better the following season when he scored both goals in Rovers’ 2-0 win over Merthyr in the Play-Off Final to see them promoted to the Southern Premier. His form caught the eye of National League Bath City who signed him in September 2014 and he remained at Twerton Park until January 2018 when he signed for fellow National League outfit Chippenham Town where he continued to be a thorn in opposition defences. In the summer of 2019, he moved to Weston-super-Mare where he has played against the Peacocks in recent seasons until leaving the Seagulls in July 2022.
