The Peacocks kicked off their pre-season friendlies with a 5-0 victory at Tavistock yesterday evening (9th July). Ed Palmer opened the scoring from Shane White’s corner after 15 minutes before two quickfire goals from Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal gave Town a 3-0 lead at the break, collecting Palmer’s pass to steer over Josh Oak on 37 minutes and then tapping in Matt Wright’s centre three minutes before half time. Neal scored a penalty in the second half to complete his hat trick after Wright had been fouled and trialist Jack Rice concluded the scoring on 82 minutes when he fired home from the edge of the box. Dan Sullivan also hit the crossbar late on as the Peacocks made a more than satisfactory start.

Reaction – Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” A good start to pre-season and lots of boxes ticked. Fitness levels, tempo and work rate were good and the additions looked impressive while the young lads who came off the bench again showed their progress and we had the bonus of no injuries. Tavistock will no doubt be a force in the Western League so all in all a good evening’s work and we now go to Bridgwater looking to up the levels.”
