Match Report

Taunton were dominant for the first hour but were unable to convert their superiority into goals and they had to settle for a draw.

The home side had the first real chance after 8 minutes when an Ollie Chamberlain shot went for a corner from which top scorer Andrew Neal headed wide. Another chance came after 20 minutes but Ryan Bret’s shot was well saved by visiting keeper Martin Horsell.

Supermarine always looked likely to threaten and from a free kick Ryan Campbell shot over.

After 32 minutes a Pierce Mitchell cross found skipper Matt Wright but his header hit the post with Horsell beaten.

Just before half time Ed Palmer let fly with one of his trademark free kicks but on this occasion it went just over the bar and the teams were level at the break.

There was an unusual substation at half time as referee Stacey Pearson was forced to  leave the field due to injury and Bridgwater based Scott Jackson took over the whistle.

Eight minutes into the second half Swindon skipper Stuart Fleetwood shot towards the goal but Ed Palmer cleared off the line. This proved crucial as just a minute late Taunton took the lead and it was Neal who found himself clear and his shot comfortably beat Horsell.

This was a busy spell as Conor McDonagh ran clear for the visitors but his cross went across the face of the goal.

Swindon always looked likely to score in the final half hour and the equalizer duly arrived after 87 minutes when a shot by Jamie Edge was diverted in by Mat Liddiard giving home keeper Lloyd Irish no chance.

A minute later a long throw from Palmer looked as though it might cause problems but Horsell finally caught it at the third attempt.

Taunton had another chance in injury time but when Chamberlain’s shot was blocked sub Craig Veal could only find the side netting.

Time was running out, Taunton were unable to find a winner and two points had gone begging.
