Taunton lost this game to a goal in injury time but due to results elsewhere they have maintained their four point lead at the top of the table.
The Peacocks made a good start and took the lead after 11 minutes when a cross by skipper Matt Wright was turned in at the far post by vice captain Shane White for his first goal of the season.
Three minutes later Salisbury had an opportunity to equalize but Luke Hopper’s shot was well saved by Lloyd Irish.
Taunton could have increased the lead after 25 minutes but Ryan Brett’s shot was saved by home keeper James Hillson. Salisbury equalized four minutes later courtesy of a long range shot by Hopper.
Taunton made a good start to the second half and after Ollie Chamberlain was fouled Ben Adelsbury and Ed Palmer both looked likely to take the kick but it was Brett who took it and put the ball wide of Hillson to restore Taunton’s lead.
The Peacocks knew that it would be a battle to hold on to their lead and the task was made harder after 61 minutes when Ben Adelsbury was sent off following a second yellow card.
Salisbury’s second equalizer came after 74 minutes through Aaron Dawson, who tapped in from close range after a shot had hit the post.
Salisbury manager Steve Claridge had been animated for the whole game and referee Adam Baker eventually lost patience 12 minutes from time and sent him to the stands.
Taunton then lost another player to a red card when Keith Emmerson also received a second yellow card 7 minutes from time and the nine men tried their hardest to hang on.
The Salisbury winner came in the third minute of injury time courtesy of a strike by substitute Dan Fitchett.
