Match Report

With other top teams not playing, Taunton had an opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table but this did not happen on a cold and wet Hampshire day.

Chances were hard to come by in the first half but just three minutes before the break Lewis Hall’s cross was headed just wide by Peacocks top scorer Andrew Neal and just a minute later Neal had another chance but he shot over from 20 yards.

Although the hosts upped their game after the break Taunton continued to create chances and just five minutes into the second half a Ryan Brett shot went just wide from 20 yards.

After 55 minutes Dan Stewart had a good chance for Hartley Wintney but his shot went over, The home side were to take the lead four minutes later however when a Josh Nelmes clearance fell kindly for Jack French, who made no mistake.

Taunton continued to create chances and Ed Palmer’s 30 yard free kick when just over after 62 minutes but only two minutes later they drew level when a Ryan Brett corner deceived the home defence and went straight in.

The scores were only level for four minutes and Hartley Wintney regained the lead when a left wing cross was head in by Mickel Platt.

Hartley Wintney were able to hang on to their lead into injury time and in fact increased it with a curling shot by Josh Webb which secured them the points.
